Who can Apply for a Winifred Kiek Scholarship?

The Winifred Kiek Scholarship (WKS) is an important component of the program of Australian Church Women (ACW), and it has been awarded almost every year of ACW’s 55-year history. This scholarship was inaugurated to honour the Revd Winifred Kiek as a pioneer in fields that are of particular interest to church women.

The scholarship is available to women who reside in one of three global regions, and these regions are rotated each year over a three-year cycle.

  • Multicultural Australia

  • Pacific Island Nations, and

  • Member countries of the Asian Church Women's Conference (ACWC)

These regions were established at the 1995 National Conference of Australian Church Women, held in Victoria, when a motion to define the areas for eligibility was presented to the members for discussion. After debate, the amended motion was represented and agreement reached:

Subsequently, the Trust Deeds of the Winifred Kiek Scholarship were amended to reflect these changes.

Applications for the 2022 Winifred Kiek Scholarship have opened and the scholarship will be awarded to a woman from the Pacific Island Nations.

The application forms can be accessed HERE and need to be completed by both the applicant and her nominating committee.

The closing date for applications is 31 May 2021

About

This Herstory Blog of Australian Church Women Inc. tells the stories of the women and activities of this national Christian organisation that was founded in February 1965.

Stories that inspired and encouraged me to begin this blog and share their inspiration with you. Stories that need to be told so that the women of ACW can be honoured and celebrated for their achievements and experiences in local, national and international communities of faith. And, most importantly, stories that demonstrate being disciples of Jesus Christ firmly underpins all that Australian Church Women represents.
